“The noun Eleos (mercy) always deals with what we see of pain, misery and distress, these the results of sin. And Charis (grace) always deals with the sin and guilt itself. The one extends relief, and the other pardon; the one cures, heals, helps, the other cleanses and reinstates.” Richard Lenski

“Grace is especially associated with men in their sins; mercy is especially associated with men in their misery. In other words, while grace looks down upon sin as a whole, mercy looks especially upon the miserable consequences of sin.” D. Martin Lloyd-Jones
